Shortly after their UEFA Conference League loss at home to Legia Warszawa, Omonoia have parted ways with their Lithuanian manager Valdas Dambrauskas. He will be replaced for the time being by Technical Director, Giannis Anastasiou. Anastasiou will now enter his third stint as Omonoia manager. In fact, it was he that Dambrauskas succeeded, after Anastasiou was promoted after finishing out the 2023-2024 season. Dambrauskas officially took over in June, but was hired in March for this season. He got off to a good start, successfully getting Omonoia to qualify for the UEFA Conference League in the summer. Omonoia as of this writing are third place in Cyprus with 7 wins, 3 losses and a draw, and in the Conference League have lost their last three matches after winning their opener at home to Vikingur Reykjavik. Dambrauskas is already the tenth manager fired in the Cyprus First Division this season. And so returns Anastasiou, on an interim basis. Anastasiou led Omonoia in the final 12 matches of last season, and compiled an 8-2-2 record and led Omonoia to the Cyprus Cup final, which they lost to Pafos FC. Anastasiou is 51 years old and from Greece. He also served as Omonoia manager for most of the 2018-2019 season, which did not go as well.
