Spyros Neophytidis, the influential figure of PASP, spoke to Supersport104 and the show “Good Morning Sports” with Andreas Pogiatzis and Alkis Botsos.

During the discussion, he shed light on pressing issues affecting the lower divisions of football, emphasising a shocking case of a player who was in intensive care. Despite his critical condition, the player’s team had neglected its financial obligations, leaving him unable to access the benefits of GESY (the General Healthcare System of Cyprus.

Neophytidis said:

“Do you want me to tell you about an unbelievable incident? We had a foreign player who was in intensive care for five days due to a serious health issue. He was a legal resident and worker, but he couldn’t register with GESY because his team had left him unpaid. The club hadn’t contributed to GESY and social insurance for six months. As a result, we had to rush to support him financially so he wouldn’t end up on the street and die. If you can’t meet your obligations, why are you bringing in 16 foreign players?”
