36 clubs will take part in the UEFA Conference League this season, and three of those are from Cyprus. Omonoia, as we mentioned last week have qualified for this competition for the second time. The other two, Omonoia’s co-tenants at the Stadio GSP and archrivals, APOEL, and Pafos FC are in this competition for the first time. The teams will begin in the new League Phase which replaces the traditional group stage, as UEFA have done in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League this season, as well. Instead of facing three other teams, both home and away, every match will be against a different opponent. A cumulative standings will be kept, the top 24 teams will advance, with the remaining 12 being eliminated at the conclusion of the League Phase. Omonoia’s schedule is as follows: 3 October 2024 vs. Vikingur Reykjavik(Iceland)(Home) 24 October 2024 vs. Hearts(Scotland)(Away) 7 November 2024 vs. Gent(Belgium)(Away) 28 November 2024 vs. Legia Warszawa(Poland)(Home) 12 December 2024 vs. Rapid Wien(Austria)(Home) 19 December 2024 vs. Borac Banja Luka(Bosnia-Herzegovina)(Away) Here is APOEL’s schedule: 3 October 2024 vs. Shamrock Rovers(Ireland)(Away) 24 October 2024 vs. Borac Banja Luka(Bosnia-Herzegovina)(Home) 7 November 2024 vs. Fiorentina(Italy)(Home) 28 November 2024 vs. Molde(Norway)(Away) 12 December 2024 vs. Noah(Armenia)(Away) 19 December 2024 vs. Astana(Kazakhstan)(Home) And this is what Pafos FC’s schedule looks like: 3 October 2024 vs. Petrocub(Moldova)(Away) 24 October 2024 vs. FC Heidenheim(Germany)(Home) 7 November 2024 vs. Astana(Kazakhstan)(Home) 28 November 2024 vs. Fiorentina(Italy)(Away) 12 December 2024 vs. Celje(Slovenia)(Home) 19 December 2024 vs. FC Lugano(Switzerland)(Away) NOTE: Pafos FC’s home ground, Stelios Kyriakidis Stadium in Paphos does not meet UEFA standards, and so all their home games for this competition will be held in Limassol at Alphamega Stadium.
